CASE STUDY

Case#1

Then nothing happened. Was it all an elaborate April Fools' joke?

the people need to aware the conficker worm so that their system doesn't failed to used making some any kind of work.If the conficker worm attack their system make sure that their system still running and without trouble.Millions users feared conficker worm that the exploit would wreak navoc on their system.
So, in the end, was the hype a good thing or a bad thing?

I think it is not a good thing or a bad thing, it is up to you on how to use it, hype is use to characterize the over enthusiasm or Hype and subsequent disappointment that typically happens with the introduction of new technology, Hype cycles also show how and when technologies move beyond the hype, offer practical benefits and become widely accepted. Hype in new media plays a large part in the adoption of new media forms by society. Applying the idea of the hype cycle to new media technologies such as the iPod, which was found to have failure rates of 13.7% in a 2005, in the middle of the iPod boom, we can see the same trends may apply for forms of new media as they apply to technology in general. but the other opinion the good things of this you can secure your computer into the virus.

CASE#2

this is the result of lack of planning... they *Think* there invulnerable because some one designed the network that was a "Expert" in the early 2000's.
They don't hire Security analysts once a year for intrusion analysis and entry testing. They don't upgrade hardware every 2.3 years and they don't upgrade software every 9 months...
Result = Insecure Network and Computer Systems... You're weakest link is the people that work for you... Most root kits get installed users, because of a failure for internal IT. Since most company's outsource there IT services, system go unmanaged and it becomes insecure within 2 months...
